Not yet ready to let go of life as the mind thinks it knows it?  Well that’s OK.  There’s nothing you need to do about not being ready, no intentions to set, no changes to make, nothing.

Why?

Because none of that mental effort actually helps the mind clear.  Sure, changing the mind might take the sting off a little here and there, but it doesn’t actually help You experience Happiness because Happiness cannot be experienced with a mind full of thought.  Happiness can only be experienced when the mind is empty of thought.

Trying to empty the mind by motivating or changing the mind is like trying to give up alcohol by drinking alcohol; it does not work.

You can tell yourself, with drink in hand, “This is going to be my last drink,” but once that alcohol hits your lips, it’s all over; the voice of reason seems to be gone and the alcohol seems to be the one running things.

You can tell yourself, with a mind full of concepts, “Just as soon as __________ happens, then I’ll start letting go of the mind’s noise,” but as long as you are paying attention to the thing the mind thinks it wants to happen, it’s all over; Happiness seems to be gone and the mind seems to be the one running things.

You can also try different types of alcohol when trying to quit drinking alcohol, justifying, “If I drink better quality alcohol, then I will feel better,” but alcohol is alcohol and you are not sober if you are drinking it.

You can also try different types of thoughts when trying to quit thinking, justifying, “If I think more positive thoughts, then I will feel better,” but thoughts are thoughts and You cannot experience true Happiness while the mind is full of thought.

So instead of telling yourself that you should do something about not being ready to let go of all of the mind’s noise, instead of trying to “think” of a different way to act, just keep “drinking”.   (Just keep going along with life as usual because when the mind is addicted to drinking, drinking is all that the mind can do.  When the mind is addicted to thinking, thinking is all that the mind can do.)

WHAT? That’s it?  That’s the advice for the guy at the bar, staring at the drink, wondering if he should drink it or not?

Yep.

You’re going to “drink” if you’re going to “drink”.  You’re going to “think” if you’re going to “think”.  I’m not going to try to stop you.

The only thing that I am going to do is See You as You really Are, as Complete Perfection.

When you have had enough to “drink” (which is to say, when you are completely done with “alcohol”), then you are ready to quit drinking and experience sobriety.

When you have had enough of living by the mind’s thoughts (which is to say, when you are completely done with living as some false, separate-sense of “you”), then you are ready to stop participating in an illusion of separation and instead experience the Perfection that is the True Self.

*As a side note, if you try to clear the mind when you are not ready, it will seem hard to do. That is only because it is impossible to clear the mind when you are not ready. So relax, watch TV, eat that piece of cake. You’ll be ready when you’re ready and you will know when that is because nothing that used to satisfy you will be able to satisfy you any longer.
